Insurance for medical expenses

“A Jamaican artist had to be admitted to hospital while staying in our premises. We had to advance the ambulance and hospital fess because he was in the process of registering in the French system. How can we reclaim these expenses?”
When you hire a foreign artist, even if you register him and if the social security contributions are paid, in most cases he will not benefit from social security entitlements.
In order for foreign workers to benefit from such entitlements, they must among other things reside in France; the assumption is that this is not the case if the artist only stays in France for a few performances.
Caution: for community nationals, and in certain cases when there is a bilateral agreement on social security, such expenses may be covered.
In your case, you can only recover the expenses you have advanced from the artist concerned.
If he has not taken out insurance for his stay in France, it will in all likelihood be difficult to reclaim the expenses.
Therefore, for artists staying in France only a short time, it is advisable to take out private insurance covering the cost of any healthcare in France, and possibly repatriation expenses.
