Obtaining authorizations for a series of concerts in France
Monday, 04 July 2005
“I would like to apply for a work permit for a series of concerts in France. What conditions must be met to obtain a work permit in connection with the production of shows for a cultural exchange in France (country concerned: Mali)?”
Your question does not specify whether this concerns an artist or a group of artists, or a legal entity engaged in “entertainment production”.
In fact, in view of French legislation, two situations can be considered:
- either you have a legal entity (firm, company, etc.) and you are engaged in the business of entertainment promoter, producer or tour promoter, that is, you are responsible for the show and for hiring the artists; in which case, the conditions you must meet and the formalities you need to carry out are described in fact sheets Entertainment promoter based abroad - Work permit in France, formalities and Foreign artist seconded to France under a sales contract entered into with an entertainment promoter based abroad ;
- or you are an artist or a group of artists and do not qualify as an entertainment producer as defined by French legislation: you must be employed as a salaried worker by the French entities that will host you; in that case, the French entities hiring you must carry out the requisite formalities for obtaining a work permit (see Foreign artist - Residence and work permit ).
