Entertainment promoter or tour organizer based abroad

“I would like to apply for a work permit for a series of concerts in France. What conditions one must meet to obtain a work permit for producing shows as part of a cultural exchange in France (country in question: Mali)?”
The question does not specify whether this concerns an artist or a group of artists, or a “show production” legal entity.
In fact, under French legislation, there are two possible scenarios:
- either you have a legal entity (firm, company, etc.) and you are engaged in the business of entertainment promoter or tour organizer, in other words you are responsible for the show and for employing the artists: in which case the requisite conditions and formalities are those listed in the fact sheets on Entertainment Promoter based abroad - “Authorisation to operate in France, formalities ”, and Foreign artist seconded to France under a sale agreement with an entertainment promoter based abroad ;
- or you are an artist or group of artists and you do not meet the conditions imposed by French legislation to be considered as an entertainment promoter: you must be on the payroll of the French companies receiving you; in which case it is up to these French companies to apply for the work permits (see fact sheet Foreign artist - Residence and work permit).
